  • Giving Credit is a fintech application that helps you build a character-based credit report, the Giving Credit Report, that reflects your lending and borrowing from your trusted social networks (friends and family). On Giving Credit, you can invite your friends and family to borrow and lend with, upload your bank statements (CashApp, Venmo, etc) for us to identify your loans, and share your report with our financial institution partners to get access to affordable credit options.

  • The Giving Credit report is an alternative credit report that captures what the mainstream credit report misses. It reflects your true character and how your community sees you. Every time you use our platform to make or track loans with your community, we add it to your report.

  • There are three main ways you can add to your report

    1. Use Giving Credit to lend or borrow directly with your friends or family. 

    2. Upload your CashApp, Venmo, or other bank statements. We find your loans and add them to your report. (Pro Tip: You can upload statements as far back as you want.)

    3. Report a historical loan you had in the past.

  • To send or receive payments on Giving Credit, you need to link a bank account. You can link any account that has a routing number and account number. To do so, go to https://www.givingcredit.org/account/bank. There are two steps to adding your bank account:

    1. Link your bank account: Enter the required personal information and your bank routing and account numbers. 

    2. Verify your account: 1-2 business days (does not include weekends). You will receive two micro-deposits to your account. Once you receive these, enter them to verify your account. 

    Your account is not active until you complete both steps. There are video tutorials in the app to walk your through the process of you can view them here:

  • Giving Credit is not a lender. We do not provide loans. Instead, we help you build your Giving Credit Report that reflects your character and community lending. If you need a loan, you can request a loan from your friends or family on Giving Credit. You may be eligible for a loan from one of our partner organizations based on your Giving Credit Report.

  • If you have received a 0% interest loan from a Giving Credit partner, you can track the status of your loan from the homepage by clicking on that loan. From there, you can see your repayment history and the estimated arrival of any payments. You can also communicate directly with your lender (the partner) via the chat.

  • Item desIf you have received a 0% interest loan from a Giving Credit partner, follow these instructions to repay your loan:

    1. Make sure the account you want to pay the loan from is linked to Giving Credit

    2. Click your loan card on the app's homepage and submit your payment directly.
